The Videographer/Photographer supports the Marketing & Communications team in the creation of videography and photography aimed at target audiences to grow and promote the OCAD University (OCAD U) brand and drive other targeted metrics.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Create and produce digital video content to effectively build narratives and storytelling, including, but not limited to weekly videos (approximately two to three minutes in length each), longer form videos or shorter promotional videos, etc. Act as a solo production crew on shoots including coordinating shoots, scouting locations, shooting, interviewing subjects, and post-production editing Act as photographer for events, special projects, and the University’s social media, including both staged and candid media Create and manage a production tracking calendar for ongoing projects Conceptualize, research, and pitch video stories following daily deadlines Work with graphic design team to ensure video and photography develop and reflect brand synergy, including creation of thumbnail images, on-screen graphics, and other needs as required Support the Marketing & Communications office in other related tasks contributing to the successful operation of the unit Qualifications:
Post-secondary degree in marketing or digital content creation, or equivalent combination of education and experience Minimum of four (4) years of experience successfully producing videos and photography aimed a youth demographic Proven expertise in understanding and marketing to the target audience with relevant content Proven results in producing short videos on short timelines Proven experience in narrative building and story chasing Proven experience working on multiple projects simultaneously and meeting daily production deadlines Demonstrated ability to quickly translate jargon and academic language into plain language for the target audience Demonstrated ability to quickly figure out the most important information and the heart of a story and how to make it compelling for the target audience Demonstrated ability to shoot and edit compelling video with daily deadlines that would appeal to the target audience; proficiency in Adobe Premiere is ideal Demonstrated experience as an efficient interviewer who asks the right questions and puts people at ease Excellent problem solving and analytical skills Ability to understand journey mapping and the importance of building meaningful connections Demonstrated commitment to the principles of equity and diversity, and experience promoting a respectful work and learning environment for students, staff and faculty Compensation: OPSEU Unit I, Appendix B, Grade B2; $66,925.74 to $87,958.44 per annum
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, for a total of 35 hours per week.
