Water & Sewer Grades Person

Thompson Construction Group has an opening in the upcoming season for a Water & Sewer Gradesman working out of Edmonton and surrounding area of operations.

Responsibilities:

• Use of survey instruments to establish correct grade for water and sewer, utility and road construction projects


• Ability to read plans and mathematically inclined to accurately complete many functions of the job


• Installation of stakes as required for layout purposes


• Must be willing to learn and work with Operators, Forman, Superintendent and occasionally, Site Engineers to conduct and complete day to day work activities


• Must be able to walk long distances and do any groundwork essentials to the completion of the contract


• Measures distances from reference points to locate boundaries of construction site


• Verify graded surface using a laser levels, boning rods, batter boards, hand levels etc.


• Be able to identify hazards on site


• Must be willing and able to learn general construction practices involving water and sewer and road construction


• Have an understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance and ability to work in and implement safe work practices and contribute to a safe work environment


• Ability to work in a team environment


• Strong written and verbal communication skills


• Ability to multitask and meet deadlines


• Must possess a valid class 5 driver’s license


• Work overtime as required
