Reporting to the Operations and Maintenance Manager, the Welder/Fabricator is responsible for constructing and repairing all mechanical, welding, and fabrication jobs, as determined by the Maintenance manager, using various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Arc, STICK) and fabrication machinery.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Fabrication and assembly
Read blueprints, layouts, and assemble metal parts using welding techniques
Perform welding, cutting, and fitting various parts using torch, plasma cutter, brazing, grinders, threaders, saws, and shears
Welding stainless, aluminum, and mild steel
Use precision measuring instruments (squares, levels, calipers)
Pipe fitting
Source parts and metal
Pick up parts
Perform fabrication duties on trucks in the truck shop
Other duties as assigned
Position Specifications (Qualifications)
Education / Knowledge / Experience
Degree or diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Welding certificates and /or CWB, TSSA, Red seal
Valid Class G Ontario Driver's License; a valid AZ Driver's License is an asset
Lift Truck operator training is an asset
At least five (5) years' hands-on experience in welding and fabricating
Owns a collection of hand tools to complete standard preventive maintenance repairs

Work Environment
Work is completed in the Shop and in the yard or in the field
Work is generally conducted during a standard work week (Monday to Friday), on a shift schedule which falls between 7:00 am and 4:30 pm daily, depending on the nature and physical location of the specific tasks and the time of year
Overtime and weekend hours, as required, during peak business times (April to October)
