About the Role

The Welder’s Helper will be responsible for supporting welding and fabrication activities, organizing tools and materials, maintaining a clean and organized work area, and contributing to overall shop cleanliness to support the efficient assembly of the required product.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist Welders with the preparation, handling, and positioning of materials for welding.


• Prepare materials for welding using hand tools, grinders, and other shop equipment as directed.


• Assist with measuring, marking, cutting, and preparing materials according to drawings, specifications, or work instructions.


• Support Welders with the setup and movement of materials, components, and equipment.


• Conduct basic checks of assigned tools and equipment to ensure they are operating safely and in good working order.


• Assist in identifying material, equipment, or quality concerns to the Welder, Quality Control Team, or Supervisor.


• Effectively communicate with Welders, the Quality Control Team, Shipper/Receiver, and other employees or supervisors.


• Maintain an organized work area and ensure materials, tools, and equipment are properly stored when not in use.


• Ensure the assigned work area is clean and free from hazards.


• Adhere to health and safety protocols, including always wearing the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  
  

Required Abilities, Knowledge, Experience

• Previous experience in a welding, fabrication, manufacturing, or shop environment is an asset.


• Basic knowledge of welding and fabrication processes is an asset.


• Ability to safely use basic hand tools, grinders, and other shop equipment.


• Ability to read and follow basic work instructions, drawings, or process specifications.


• Basic computer skills and ability to navigate through the Lucid System.


• Ability to follow instructions and complete assigned tasks accurately and efficiently.


• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.


• Team player with strong verbal communication skills.


• Ability to work safely in a fast-paced shop environment and follow established health and safety procedures.


• Ability to safely lift, move, and position materials and components as required.
