Job Description - Wills & Estates Clerk

The salary range for the position of Wills & Estates Clerk is $50,000 - $60,000 annually.  This position will be located in the St. Catharines Office.

Job Description

  • Provides support in the efficient and effective management of the practice including scheduling, greeting clients, file management, documentation management etc.;
  • Prepares account related documents including docket entries, billing summaries, accounts, etc.;
  • Facilitates communication between lawyers, clients and external clients;
  • Completes first drafts of Wills, powers of attorney and trusts;
  • Prepare and manage probate applications;
  • Review and prepare estate accounts;
  • Prepare court documents in support of estate matters including contested passing's of accounts application for advice and direction, guardianship applications, variations of trust, etc.
  • Keeps abreast of any changes in specialty area and is quickly able to adapt procedures to meet requirements;
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned and or required from time to time.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years' experience in Wills & Estate Law
  • Strong computer skills using MS Office, WINDUP, Estatably, and PCLaw;
  • Ability to work effectively independently under minimal supervision as well as part of a team with lawyers, law clerks and clients;
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking abilities with strong attention to details;
  • Exceptional attitude and work ethic;
  • Willingness to assist others voluntarily or as requested in a team environment;
  • Enjoy working in a large office and team environment;
  • Willingness and ability to support and enhance firm's presence and goals.
