We are a non-profit health and safety association for BC’s continuing care sector. Our mandate is to reduce injuries among care workers and leaders by providing education, training, and resources across the province.

Position Overview  

Reporting to the OHS Services Department, the OHS Services Program Coordinator role will primarily support the development and implementation of psychological health and safety initiatives through data management, reporting, resource development, project coordination and administrative support.  

Working closely with our subject matter expert and staff, the Coordinator helps transform information, evidence, and data into practical resources, reports, and tools that educate and support our members to create safer and heathier workplaces.  

This is a newly created position that offers a unique opportunity to help shape the role while also providing opportunity to develop knowledge and skills. While previous knowledge of occupational health and safety and/or psychological health and safety is considered an asset, a strong interest in learning and contributing to this work is equally important.  

Currently, this is part-time role (0.6 FTE / 3 days a week) with potential for this role to expand to full-time in the future. 

Why this role matters  

Continuing care is one of the most physically and psychologically demanding sectors in healthcare. This role directly contributes to reducing workplace injuries, strengthening safety culture, and improving day-to-day working conditions for thousands of care workers across BC.  

You will help translate psychological health and safety into tools that are practical, usable, and meaningful for frontline environments.

• Experience working in healthcare, continuing care, workplace health and safety, or a related field (asset).

Key Responsibilities

Data Support 

• Collect, organize and prepare data, including the development of charts, graphs etc., to support analysis, reporting, decision-making, and member consultations. 

• Maintain datasets, such as data for Ministry of Health quarterly reporting.  

• Assist in preparing data summaries for internal and external reporting (e.g. Briefing Notes, impact reports, etc.) 

Reporting and Resource Development Support  

• Transform subject matter content into accessible, user-friendly resources (e.g. one-pagers, toolkits, guides). 

• Design graphics and visual assets that highlight key findings, enhance understanding, or and support learning and application.  

• Design and format reports, summaries, and presentations. 

Program Coordination and Administrative Support  

• Provide coordination support including scheduling, follow-ups, and stakeholder communication. 

• Assist in organizing program’s initiative (e.g. project plan updates, documentation, internal and external communications.)  

Education and experience  

• Post-secondary education in a relevant field such as psychology, public health, health sciences, occupational health and safety, communications, business administration, social sciences, or a related discipline. 

• Minimum 2–4 years of experience in a coordination, program support, administrative, research, health and safety, healthcare, or related role. 

• Experience organizing and managing data, preparing reports, and developing professional documents and resources. 

• Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams. 

• Experience designing and formatting reports, presentations, infographics, or educational resources using software such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools is considered an asset. 

• Experience working in healthcare, continuing care, occupational health and safety, workplace wellness, or psychological health and safety is considered an asset. 

• An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered. 

• Applicants must be eligible to work in Canada.  

• Applicants must be located within commuting distance of Burnaby and available to work from the Burnaby office on a weekly basis.   

What SafeCare BC offers  

This is a part-time position (0.6 FTE / 3 days per week) with potential for this role to expand to full-time in the future. 

• Salary range of $36,000 to $42,000 per year
