Workplace Wellness & Harmony Advisor - Term 


Department:  Human Resources 


Location: Tr’ondek Hwech’in Offices – Dawson, YT 


Posting Date:  March 11, 2025 


Standard Hours Bi-Weekly:  75 


Start Date:  Immediately 


End Date:  One (1) year from start date with possible extension 


Salary:  Level 9 Step 1 ($4,062.00 bi-weekly)

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Workplace Wellness and Harmony Advisor supports the resolution of employee conflicts and grievances in the workplace while advancing reconciliation and workplace harmony. The incumbent provides constructive supports, including mediations and group interventions, to TH employees and management, and provides coaching and mentoring to employees in areas such as de-escalating, managing and resolving conflict, and reducing lateral violence in the workplace. The incumbent assists in policy reviews and development, and seeks expert advice and recommendations through liaising with other professionals such as consultants, lawyers and other government officials to inform decision-making and outcomes that foster a harmonious work environment. The incumbent assists employees in processes relating to occupational health and safety, worker’s compensation, employment insurance, duty to accommodate, flexible work arrangements and return-to-work plans, with a strong focus on employee wellness and retention. 


 


An Eligibility List may be established from this competition – the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent full-time, permanent part-time, temporary full-time, temporary part-time, term, or auxiliary on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.

Essential Qualifications:  



  • Post-secondary degree in human resources management, labour/employment relations or similar field, combined with certification(s) in conflict management, dispute resolution, restorative justice or a related area; an equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge and skills may be considered.

  • Experience and knowledge of human resource management principles and practices with respect to staff relations, recruitment and selection, performance management, job analysis and evaluation, training and development, employment equity, and pay and benefits management.

  • Thorough understanding of laws, regulations and guidelines related to the Canada Labour Code, Federal and Yukon human rights legislation, OH&S standards, worker's compensation and Employment Insurance (EI) processes.

  • Demonstrated experience in mediation, conflict resolution and establishing/enforcing employee agreements.

  • Knowledge and experience utilizing case management principles and practices.

  • Knowledge and understanding of how to effectively address lateral violence in the workplace.

  • Experience researching, analyzing data and presenting reports to senior management.

  • Experience delivering workshops and programs aimed at coaching and mentoring employees and supervisors. 


Assets: 



  • Experience developing new programs, leading pilot projects and performing evaluations is an asset.

  • Knowledge of Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in social structure, culture and demographics, and understanding of First Nations socio-economic issues and related barriers affect employment, workplace wellness and positive relationships.

  • Cross cultural awareness, sensitivity and understanding. 


Conditions of Employment: 



  • Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.

  • Standard First Aid Certification.

  • Class 5 Driver’s License with clear Driver’s Abstract (Class 4 Driver’s License, an asset).

  • TH101 Cultural Awareness training
