The Yard Coordinator supports the Yard Manager by balancing hands-on yard operations with dispatch, planning, and administrative responsibilities. This role is critical in keeping daily yard activity and regional trucking operations running smoothly by assisting with dispatch and planning for approximately 13 trucks operating across the Prairies, while also stepping into physical yard work during peak periods.
This position is ideal for someone who is comfortable working outdoors, highly organized, and tech-savvy, with the ability to shift between operational coordination and physical work as needed.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Yard & Operations Support
Assist with day-to-day yard operations, including load assembly and disassembly, load securement, and organizing freight within the yard
Support the loading and unloading of equipment and freight, including large agricultural equipment such as combines
Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe yard environment
Step in to support the Yard Manager during busy periods or absences
Dispatch & Planning Support
Assist with dispatching and planning for approximately 13 regional trucks operating within the Prairie provinces
Coordinate daily movements, schedules, and load planning in collaboration with the Yard Manager and operations team
Communicate with drivers regarding load details, schedules, and expectations
Support weekend or overflow planning as
Administrative & Documentation Duties
Take photos of freight and loads as
Upload documentation, photos, and load information into internal systems such as LME
Assist with paperwork related to freight, load details, and yard activity
Ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted in a timely manner
Cross-Functional Support
Assist other departments with the movement of deliveries within the yard and office as needed
Provide general operational support to ensure smooth workflow across yard, dispatch, and operations
Desired Qualifications & Skills
High School Diploma or GED
Experience in yard operations, dispatch, logistics, or transportation is an asset
Comfortable working in a hands-on, outdoor environment for a portion of the role
Strong organizational and time management skills
Tech-savvy with the ability to learn internal systems and manage digital documentation
Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with drivers, managers, and internal teams
Proven accountability, dependability, and strong work ethic
Ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a team
Physically capable of performing manual labour, including lifting and repetitive tasks
Working Conditions
Combination of office-based administrative work and outdoor yard work
Full-time position, minimum 40-hour work week
Occasional overtime or weekend work may be based on operational needs
