Location: Cranbrook BC
Hours: 35 hours per week
Wage: $32.75 per hour

Position Summary
The Youth Intensive Support & Supervision / High Priority Support (ISSP/HPS) Worker provides intensive, one-on-one support to youth involved in the justice system. This role focuses on supporting youth to meet court-ordered conditions, develop life skills, and build positive, sustainable pathways forward.


Using a trauma-informed, strength-based, and person-centered approach, the Worker supports youth in addressing complex needs while promoting accountability, resilience, and community integration. The position works collaboratively with internal team members, Youth Probation Officers, families, and community partners to ensure coordinated and responsive service delivery.



Key Responsibilities


Program Delivery
• Provide individualized, one-to-one support to youth in the community
• Support youth in meeting court-ordered conditions (e.g., school attendance, curfews, appointments)
• Facilitate development of life skills, social skills, and pro-social behaviors
• Support participation in rehabilitation and restorative justice activities
• Assist youth with transitions, including reintegration from custody and movement toward independence


Client Support & Advocacy
• Build positive, strength-based relationships that foster growth and resilience
• Support youth in accessing education, employment, and community resources
• Advocate on behalf of youth to reduce barriers and support successful outcomes
• Provide guidance and support within scope of practice


Collaboration
• Work collaboratively with Youth Probation Officers, families, and community partners
• Participate in case planning, team meetings, and supervision
• Maintain strong working relationships with service providers and stakeholders


Documentation & Compliance
• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential client records
• Complete required reports and documentation in accordance with program and contract requirements
• Ensure compliance with ethical standards, privacy legislation, and organizational policies



Qualifications


Education & Experience
• Diploma or degree in Child & Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology, Criminology, Sociology, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience working with at-risk or justice-involved youth is an asset
• Knowledge of trauma-informed and strength-based practice required



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Strong communication, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills
• Effective problem-solving and crisis intervention abilities
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to engage respectfully with diverse populations, including Indigenous communities
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries and exercise sound judgment
• Commitment to culturally responsive and inclusive practice
• Demonstrated ability to support youth in achieving positive behavioral and life changes



Working Conditions
• Community-based role with work primarily taking place in the field
• Flexible schedule, including afternoons, evenings, and weekends
• Travel within Cranbrook and Kimberley required
• Work involves supporting individuals with complex needs and managing sensitive situations
