Job Description - Youth Leagues Evaluator, Sensplex

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE


The Youth Leagues Evaluator is responsible for ensuring that all aspects of timekeeping, reporting, and liaising with the facilitator and ensuring that the Ottawa Senators Spring and Summer Youth League are executed properly at the Bell Sensplex (Ottawa West) and/or Richcraft Sensplex (Ottawa East). The Evaluator will communicate efficiently between registration desk staff and on-ice facilitators, while ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all participants. The Youth Leagues Evaluator is also responsible for actively watching each game to be able to provide thoughtful advice to the Youth Leagues Manager regarding team and division balance, as well as to choose a Player of the Game. 


 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


Ongoing Responsibilities:




    • Run the time clock (ensuring that game times, and score is accurately displayed on the clock at all times) 



    • Keeping NEAT and ACCURATE game sheets 



    • Ensuring that the correct number of players are on the game sheet, and that game sheet is fully filled out BEFORE the game starts 



    • Play appropriate music throughout the games 



    • Thoughtful selection of Player of the Game awards 



    • Actively watch the game to provide thoughtful advice for team and division balance. 



    • Help the Programs Coordinator enforce the off-ice rules and regulations as needed. 



    • Other duties as requested by the Programs Manager or Coordinator 


     


    Health & Safety Responsibilities and Accountabilities


    Responsible for ensuring that all areas covered by Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) are adhered to, specifically:



    • Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability (AODA), Customer Service Standards

    • AODA, the Integrated Accessibility Standards

    • Ontario Worker Health & Safety Awareness

    • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)

    • WHMIS 2015 (GHS)

    • Violence and Harassment in the Workplace


     


    Training


    Responsible for completing on-line training modules as required, including, but not limited to:



    • Working in compliance with the provisions of the OHSA, regulations and internal policies and procedures

    • Using or wearing protective equipment, devises or clothing when required

    • Reporting any missing or defective equipment or protective device which could endanger himself or herself or another team member

    • Reporting any contravention of the OHSA, regulations or Senators Sports & Entertainment policies and procedures


    May also be required to attend on-site training sessions as scheduled.


     


    QUALIFICATIONS




      • Able to work flexible hours 



      • Able to work under pressure and adapt to changing environments 



      • Must be comfortable and enjoy working with children 



      • Previous hockey/skating experience at a high level 



      • Professional demeanor 



      • Must be at least 15 years of age 



      • Strong teaching skills 



      • Excellent communication skills, bilingual (French & English) an asset 



      • Strong work ethic 



      • First-Aid Training an asset 



      • Team player 



      • Must provide a clear Police Records Check for service with the vulnerable sector
