Human Resources Generalist

We are now seeking a Human Resources (HR) Generalist will play a pivotal role in managing HR functions within our unionized environment. This role requires a proactive individual with a strong understanding of labor relations, employee engagement, and HR best practices. The HR Generalist will work closely with union representatives, management, and employees to ensure a harmonious and productive work environment.

The Day to Day

• Administer and manage HR policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with labor laws and collective bargaining agreements.
• Support the management team in addressing concerns and facilitating effective communication between management and union members.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies to ensure a diverse and talented workforce.
• Support with branch full-cycle recruitment efforts including resume screening, interviews and onboarding.
• Assist in the onboarding of new employees, reference checks, and scheduling
• Support management with employee relations issues, including disciplinary actions and terminations, in accordance with company policy and legal requirements.
• Collaborate with management on various projects and initiatives to improve HR service delivery.
• Create and update records, employee files and spreadsheets
• Coordinate office activities and processes to ensure smooth operations

What you bring

• College Diploma in business admin or HR related field
• 2+ years of experience in a HR role
• Previous experience working in a unionized environment.
• Strong knowledge of labor laws, collective bargaining agreements, and HR best practices.
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
• Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office word, Power Point and Excel
• Experience working in an aviation environment is an asset.
