Salary: $22.38 - $27.32 per hour In addition to regular wages, regular Wage employees receive 11.2% in lieu of benefits and vacation leave:

  • 5.2 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays
  • 6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay

In addition to the regular wages and the additional pay in lieu of benefits and vacation, regular wage employees are entitled to shift premium pay:

  • $3.25 per hour for weekends and holidays
  • $2.75 per hour for evenings

Role Responsibilities

Do you want to be a key part of the organization, coordinate, and supply Fireline equipment to wildland fires? Are you in great physical shape to withstand working long hours and able to lift and carry equipment to package and prepare to send out to the wildfire crews? If so, apply today for a great and rewarding summer employment. As a Warehouse Support, you will play a significant role in delivering fire equipment throughout the province. You will make decisions on daily operations independently based on established standards and guidelines. The Warehouse Section Supervisor may give specific work assignments. Work is reviewed informally daily by the Supervisor where evaluation is based on the work’s accuracy, timelines and feedback from clients and supervisors. Additional Duties and Responsibilities Include but Not Limited To:

  • Receive goods into the warehouse, update data base using IMIS program, reconcile with purchase records and advise Supervisor of any quality or quality discrepancies in the order
  • Build kits for the field using stock items to put together in accordance with the provincial kits lists and equipment standards
  • Provide receiving services for other areas such as Telecommunications and staff from other fields and divisions
  • Ship inventory, ensuring bills of lading and Transportation of Dangerous Good (TDG) paperwork are correct
  • Ensure safe workplace practices are followed; maintain tool inventory, complete forklift maintenance

Qualifications

The minimum requirement for this role is some high school education supplemented with one (1) year of related experience. Equivalencies for directly related experience or education will be considered on the basis of one year education for one year of experience or one year of experience for one year of education. Assets:

  • Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and time manage tasks
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook), with experience in database entry and maintenance
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills to clearly communicate with clients and be able to read supply requests and complete paperwork as needed
  • Knowledge of equipment and supplies used in Wildland Fire Suppression activities
  • Good physical stamina for heavy lifting and standing for extended periods of time
  • Forklift Certification
  • Retail, warehouse, and customer service experience


The following conditions are not required at time of application, but must be provided prior to start date:

  • Valid, unrestricted Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License, or equivalent    
  • A minimum 3-year Driver's Abstract, showing a record of seven (7) demerits or less (obtained within 30 days of your commencement date and presented to management prior to commencement)     
  • Valid Defensive Driving Certificate
  • Valid Standard First Aid certificate with CPR Certification

About Your Work Environment:

  • Warehouse Support is a seasonal, temporary position based on 8-hour workdays working up to 40 hours per week, with a work schedule of 10 days on and 4 days off
  • You may need to work evenings and weekends to meet fire season operational needs; you will be required to be on a stand-by schedule for on-call.
  • Estimated term of employment is from 3 to 8 months during the wildfire season, anticipated between April 2024 to October 31, 2024, dependent on operational needs.
  • Completion of a Fitness Test may be required.
  • Must be 18 years of age on or before employment start date.
  • Housing / living accommodations may be available
