The Buchanan Rubber Outside Sales Representative is responsible for building and maintaining our customer relationships across all channels in which we sell within an established territory while achieving growth goals where applicable. Buchanan Rubber is an established, yet continuously growing, wholesale distributor of low-pressure hose and fittings with a fantastic customer base that is 37 years strong! We believe in honesty, integrity and growing with our customers, promoting from within and our goal is for all employees to march in that same direction as a team! We are looking for long-term employees with a desire to learn and support our team goals and have the hunger and drive to make a lot of money! Actual salary is highly dependent on experience. Under the close direction and support of the National Sales Manager, the Outside Sales Representative is responsible for creating and maintaining customer relationships and going that extra mile to assist them with their growth using our products and services. Our products are technical in nature and are sold as loose parts or assembled. Ideal experience would be understanding how hose and fittings, pipe/valve and fittings, cabling or electrical components fit together and what they do. If you can learn fast and are mechanically inclined this can be learned within the role and certainly supported by our very knowledgeable inside staff. It is expected to interact with all team members and customers in a professional manner as one would expect within an industrial supply atmosphere and of course, according to company standards and adding sincere effort to a winning team! Essential Functions and Basic Dutie s Fluency with ERP systems. Order entry, customer and item master inquiry, order tracking. Epicor P21 experience would be essential. Full Microsoft Office suite (especially excel), and extremely comfortable with “tech” (Salesforce, Rubber tree, etc.) Proactive deal making of product offering and related products (once learned) that complement existing products ordered. Strong sense of urgency when justified ("everything" is not a rush) Interact with Purchasing, Branch Manager Great attention to detail without losing sight of all “tasks” or relationships at any given moment. Ability to follow, maintain and follow up on open orders and quotes. Maintain communication with management and employees to avoid any misunderstanding. Be a positive member of the team while having a wholistic view of the greater good for the company goals. Notify management of any concerns that arise. Responsibility to maintain company assets in good operating condition (company vehicle, laptop, etc.) Other duties as assigned Education/Certification: HS Diploma/GED preferred but not required. Knowledge of positive workplace relationships Strong relationship skills with professional approach Required Knowledge: Familiarity with low pressure fittings, valves, clamps, and plumbing products and markets across OEM and Distribution channels and customer. Firm understanding of safety regulations. Ability to read a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) Great interpersonal skills In-depth understanding of wholesale industrial supply and target customer base Strong sense of P&L Good with basic excel formula’s. Product knowledge or the ability to quickly learn it. Knowledge of relationship building and maintenance Experience navigating ERP systems and software. Experience Required/Asset: Experience with industrial wholesale distribution, preferably Industrial or Hydraulic Connection products in the Central or Western Canadian Marketplace is preferred. Familiar with S.T.A.M.P.E.D. as it relates to hose connections and applications. Prior knowledge and use of Profit 21 business systems and financial reporting software Highly intuitive with business software and app’s Industrial pipe or hose connections. Particularly thread and connection types. Skills/Abilities: Preference will be given to those who have experience with the assembly of components into one finished goods part number. Experience using P21 (Epicor Profit 21) software is a key asset to have. Ability to own that drive to achieve goals and targets. Effective communication skills, including clear English speaking and active listening. Good interpersonal skills Basic, but strong math skills The ability to learn fast while maintaining quality of work. Excellent organizational skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Must be disciplined, results oriented and self-motivated. Ability to persuade and influence. Works productively with a wide range of people; team player Efficient with computers and technology Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and professional image Demonstratable track record of meeting or exceeding performance expectations.
