We are currently seeking a full-time Outside Sales Representative. The primary purpose of this position is outside sales, including quotations and any follow up of all commodities Ryerson Canada provides through various communication methods and networking. This roles’ primary responsibility is growth and new business development within an Eastern Quebec territory, the ideal candidate should be based in this territory. Scope of the Position: An outside sales representative adds value by daily contact with our customers including quotations, expediting orders to ensure on time delivery as well as sourcing new business. This position will require travel and in-office duties. Responsibilities: • Develops target accounts accompanied with specific action plans to accelerate internal growth by gaining new customers and growing established accounts; develops and executes customized sales presentations at target accounts. • Handles inquiries and prepares quotations based on pricing provided and published processing capabilities; enters and edits quotes and orders received by phone and email; handles customer correspondence related to inquiries and orders. • Develops in-depth knowledge of our products and their applications; develops a thorough knowledge of the operations of major customers, their processes, and the materials they buy. • Assists customers with their inventories. • Informs customers of supply and price trends. • Submits annual forecast of territory sales potential and maintains sales volume against established target. • Maintains target accounts list, develops timeline action plan for individual target accounts and regularly reports progress. • Becomes familiar with competitors' products and their selling methods; acquires broad technical knowledge related to our markets and reads related study material, attends courses and actively participates in industry associations and trade shows. • Provides continuing information to management on the state of business in assigned territory, and the current competitive situation in terms of price, service, and quality. • Develops a good rapport with suppliers and works with their representatives as required. • Works in compliance with all health, safety and environmental programs as established by legislative requirements and company policies. Qualifications required: • College Diploma or University Degree preferred, ideally in marketing, business or a related field. • 3 – 5 years of sales experience required within the metals industry. • Effective communication, organizational and interpersonal skills; superior customer service skills. • Experience in metal processing and added value is an asset • Strong prospecting and negotiating skills with an awareness and aptitude for value-added selling. • Strong organizational, interpersonal and analytical skills; strong aptitude for math. • Highly motivated, with well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills. • Proficient computer skills with competency in Word, Excel, Mainframe (SAP) and SalesForce. • Independent, forward thinking territory management mentality. • Demonstrated unique and creative approach to customer development and territory growth strategies. • Ability to work independently and be able to participate and work well in a team environment. • Ability to travel up to 60% of the time. • Must be bilingual in French and English, (30% English, 70% French) in order to communicate with French only and English only speaking internal and external customers, vendors and suppliers.
