Scope of Position: In this role as an Account Manager, you will grow and manage sales at key accounts and target accounts in the San Diego Region as defined by the District Manager.  This Region includes biotech, pharma, and academic segment accounts.  You will be responsible for maintaining and developing existing and new customer relationships as a sales representative for Corning Life Sciences.  You will be expected to grow revenues in the region at or above budget by addressing the region’s research needs in life sciences.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Meet or exceed sales budget for the territory
  • Build strong relationships with customers and distributors
  • Generate relationships at new accounts as defined by district manager
  • Work as a team with other account managers, field application specialists, or business development teammates
  • Build relationships with internal functional groups, customer service, business operations
  • Create, implement, and maintain a sales plan with feedback from the district manager
  • Understand Corning product and channel/market/customer dynamics/drivers
  • Manage all facets of responsibilities within the framework of Corning’s values

Required Experience:

  • Sales Experience in the life science or equivalent industry
  • Sales Experience working with distribution or sales teams

Required Skills:

  • Proficient computer/data analysis skills (Excel, Outlook E-Mail, Word, Power Point)
  • Problem-solving and conflict management skills
  • Business skills – financial analysis (sales analysis, trend reporting, usage reporting, pricing analysis)

Required Education:  Bachelor’s degree required; Life Sciences degree preferred

Travel Requirements: Up to 10% with occasional overnights needed

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:   Monday – Friday, standard business hours, occasional after hours evening networking industry events.  Will work remotely from home office.

  • Utilization of Microsoft Power BI
  • Experience with SalesForce.com
  • Knowledge of Corning product lines
  • Proficient in distribution channel management

The range for this position is  $69,453.00   -  $95,498.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
