Job Description - Area Director

The Area Director, under the direction of the Director Regional Development, is accountable for all aspects of Branch Office operations including business development through marketing and sales, human resources, budget and finance, quality management, information systems, and the integration of directives from the National Service Centre and local health authorities.

As an Area Director, you play a central role in leading all aspects of the business, including sales and business development, HR, finance, clinical and digital operations. As a people leader, you have overall accountability for the performance of the administrative and front-line delivery teams which includes overseeing support for caregivers, such as nurses and personal support workers who provide essential home care services. Your responsibilities include implementing competitive business development strategies, driving service excellence, and ensuring efficient operations to deliver high-quality home care services. You are focused on driving growth and enabling new business opportunities with auto insurers, government agencies (federal, provincial and municipal) and healthcare providers, such as LTCs, through home care services and staffing of health care workers. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Sales, Business Development:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive annual business plans, incorporating innovative strategies to drive sales growth in B2B or B2G home care services.
  • Meet or exceed business targets including but not limited to: financials, employee experience, customer experience, and quality.
  • Proactively identify RFPs within the scope of business lines and partner with Bayshore’s RFP team to respond.
  • Manage all contractual agreements and adhere to SLAs and other contractual requirements to ensure high quality services and customer satisfaction.
  • Capitalize on new business opportunities that align with the organization’s commitment to deliver high-quality home care services.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with local healthcare providers, actively participating in relevant healthcare and business committees to stay ahead of industry trends in delivery of high-quality private home care services.
  • Build a strong reputation as a valued service partner to support new business opportunities with insurers, government agencies and healthcare providers through home care services and staffing opportunities.
  • Lead the implementation of company-sponsored programs (i.e., clinical quality, safety, risk management)

Operations

  • Oversee the operational side of the business, supporting administrative team members, nurses and personal support workers who provide home care services, ensuring seamless service delivery and exceptional customer service.
  • Ensure a healthy and safe workplace including the well-being of employees and clients.
  • Ensure the compliance of policies and standard operating procedures that deliver consistent and expected experiences.

Establish and meet targets for employee and client experiences – including engagement and satisfaction scores, NPS, churn, turn-over, etc.

Financial Management:

  • Collaborate with the financial team to prepare and manage financial plans and forecasts, conducting thorough financial analyses to ensure financial targets are met or exceeded.
  • Identify financial trends, anticipating risks and opportunities with mitigation plans to deliver on sustained profitable growth.
  • Provide regular and insightful financial reports, offering strategic recommendations to enhance business performance in the home care services sector.

Team Leadership:

  • Build and lead a high-performing collaborative team that is customer-centric building strong personal connections with clients, enabling consistent provision of high-quality care in the home.
  • Instill a sales culture focused on achieving and exceeding sales targets in the realm of home care services.
  • Drive a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the team, ensuring they are equipped with the latest tools and knowledge to excel in their roles, including professional learning and development plans

Quality Management and Continuous Improvement:

  • Collaborate with the Bayshore’s CQ team to implement, evaluate and maintain a comprehensive Quality Management System to meet ISO 9001 standards.
  • Ensure quality risks are identified and managed effectively.
  • Support internal quality audits and actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to optimize service delivery.

Job Qualification

Education

Completion of a College or University Diploma or Degree in Business or a health-related discipline; the Area Director must have a solid knowledge of the principles, practices and methods of business development, operations, service delivery, financial management and control, program development, implementation and evaluation, and human resources practices. Experience

  • Minimum of five years in leading small or medium sized businesses or teams with accountability for business development and sales, and with a demonstrated and consistent track record in achieving profitable revenue targets.
  • People leadership experience, preferably in a healthcare setting, with a focus on overseeing the operational aspects of service delivery.
  • Accountable for customer satisfaction and employee engagement with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Highly skilled in developing business relationships with insurers, government agencies and healthcare providers.

  • Excellent business and financial acumen with proven people leadership skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, decision-making, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit with a keen eye for identifying and capitalizing on business opportunities within home care services.
  • Ability to lead a sales-focused team effectively, fostering collaboration and a results-driven mindset.
  • Digital first mindset with proficiency in utilizing digital tools and technologies to enhance customer and employee experiences, sales and operational processes and stay ahead in a rapidly evolving market delivering high-quality home care services.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to undertake out-of-town travel as required.
