Salary Range: Level 10 - Annual Hiring Salary, $83,262, with annual step progression in accordance with the Salary Grid.

Job Summary: Reporting to the Director, Teaching and Learning Centre (TLC), is a member of the TLC team and supports faculty/instructors and others engaged in learning and learner support in the pursuit of teaching excellence.

Nature of Work: The successful candidate will work closely with faculty/instructors, teaching assistants, and others involved in learning support campus-wide, in collaboration with existing TLC staff, to achieve the mandate of the TLC.

Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Design, implement and support instructional development for faculty, instructors, etc. through diverse educational delivery models;
  • Deliver specific programs/sessions concerning active learning and student engagement using information and communication technologies in virtual/physical learning settings;
  • Offer individual consultation to faculty/instructors regarding the use of andragogy-informed educational technologies;
  • Support faculty, instructors, and teaching assistants in the effective use of the Learning Management System
  • Develop and facilitate teaching orientations for new, sessional, and contract instructors and teaching assistants as required;
  • Participate in the transformation of learning as it pertains to new and innovative teaching and learning strategies for face-to-face, blended, and online environments
  • Support the development, promotion, and use of Open Educational Resources (OERs), Experiential and Work Integrated Learning.
  • Contribute to the advancement of eLearning and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL)
  • Participate in University committees concerned with teaching and learning, and the effective use of instructional technologies as directed by the Director, TLC.

Required Skills:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of instructional technology tools and their use in teaching and learning.
  • Knowledgeable of learning theory and andragogy practices;
  • An understanding of evidence-informed best practices in teaching and the use of technology to enhance learning;
  • Demonstrated competence in working with university personnel;
  • Superior communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to collaborate with multi-functional teams;
  • Evidence of innovation and creativity, as well as excellent organizational and problem-solving skills;
  • Strong commitment to student success and learner support.

Additional Skills:

  • Understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion in the learning environment
  • Working knowledge of instructional design theory
  • Understanding of modern educational tools/applications to enhance student engagement in active and collaborative learning.
  • Strong interpersonal and team skills

Required Education:

  • Minimum Master's degree or equivalent is required; Doctorate preferred
  • An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work with university personnel and students
  • Experience working in other areas of post-secondary education
  • Comprehensive understand of learning management systems
  • Understanding of teaching practices
  • An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.

Preferred or Equivalent Experience:

  • eLearning Approaches
