Impact and Evaluation Manager

Job Summary

The Impact & Evaluation Manager provides comprehensive, strategic support to the collective impact and vision philanthropy work of United Way Winnipeg (UWW). This position undertakes a variety of activities intended to inform, facilitate, communicate and evaluate implementation of UWW's collective impact and vision philanthropy initiatives such as For Every Family and the Food Security Network, as well as provide support to build evaluation capacity with UWW staff and agency partners.

As a key member of the Impact & Innovation team, the Impact & Evaluation Manager plays a critical role in researching and preparing support materials, as well as coordinating and facilitating meaningful engagement of a broad range of stakeholders. The Manager works to animate and communicate the work of UWW through evaluation and reporting using a variety of tools, platforms and creative approaches.

Responsibilities
  • Explore, develop and recommend evaluation frameworks as determined by and in collaboration with stakeholders and senior management for various UWW collective impact and vision philanthropy initiatives.
  • Utilize the theory and tools of project management and collective impact to facilitate the collaborative work of UWW volunteers, and any related sub-committees and working groups.
  • Design community outcomes and measures and develop tools to carry out evaluation work, including work to aggregate and report on results.
  • Assist with the analyses of submitted data and the writing of evaluation reports.
  • Provide support to the development of evaluation capacity of UWW staff, volunteers, and funded Agency Partners including the development and implementation of evaluation plans.
  • Research, prepare and deliver on a variety of materials in support of UWW's collective impact and vision philanthropy initiatives including reports, proposals, newsletters, visuals and presentation materials designed to support and further the work.
  • Assist with the overall work of UWW by taking on other duties as assigned.
  • Conduct research related to local social issues (e.g., poverty, homelessness, mental health) including sources such as media reports, census data and demographic trends, government policies and initiatives, social issues and effective practices, both locally and more broadly to inform the work of UWW.
  • Work with a variety of internal colleagues and resources to support:
    • Strategic planning and identification of desired outcomes
    • Ongoing prioritization and needs assessment
    • Ongoing outcome measurement and reporting
    • Ongoing relationship building with a broad range of sectors, volunteers, and other stakeholders
Education and Experience

You possess the following qualifications or an equivalent combination of education and related experience:

  • A relevant post- secondary degree and/or two to four years related experience.
  • Demonstrated skills and expertise in research and evaluation, strategic planning, outcome measurement, analyzing data, report writing, project management, consensus building, and group facilitation
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; with demonstrated capacity to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Respect of confidentiality
  • Ability to learn and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, changing environment and manage several tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, to take initiative and demonstrate imagination and resourcefulness
