Job Description - Intake Worker

Intake Worker Off-Reserve (Winnipeg Office, 1313, Border Street)

Chemawawin Family Preservation and Jordans Principle is seeking applications for a full-time position of Intake Worker to provide first contact services.

Under the direction of the Winnipeg Manager, the off-reserve Intake Worker is responsible to coordinate all off-reserve Intake requests (services provided and other urgent needs) for Chemawawin Cree Nation families. The successful candidate of this position will; advocate, assess, navigate, and liaise for Family Preservation and Jordans Principle services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and assess requests for service;
  • On-site risk assessments;
  • Determine, implement and coordinate services
  • Documentation, maintain stats, and develop and utilize best practices in coordinating servivces
  • Works to maintain culturally appropriate and community connections for each child.
  • Works collaboratively with team members, community services and other family services to build a network of family support services.
  • Respond to intakes in a professional and timely manner
  • Complete all file recording, record keeping and other administrative duties
  • Other duties relating to the position as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Degree or Diploma in Social Services, Health, Social Science, Human Services or equivalent.
  • Ability and willingness to work with families, children and youth with disabilities.
  • Experience working with First Nation Families and communities.
  • Knowledge of community resources on and off reserve available to clients and their families
  • Case management experience an asset.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification an asset
  • A highly motivated individual who is innovative and has a proven ability to work with a very high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

· Excellent knowledge and experience in Microsoft Word, Excell, Power Point and Outlook

  • Excellent time management and facilitation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and listening communications skills are essential.
  • Willing to submit random drug testing.
  • Ability to speak Cree is an asset
  • Leadership skills, critical thinking, decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid Driver’s License, reliable vehicle and to travel.
  • Must pass Criminal and Child Abuse Checks.
