The Ministry of Energy and Resources (ER) develops, coordinates and implements policies and programs to promote the growth and responsible development of Saskatchewan’s natural resources industries. ER operates as the primary regulatory authority for the oil and gas industry and ensures competitive royalty systems, regulations and policies for all natural resource sectors.

The Opportunity

The Revenue and Financial Services Branch of ER is seeking four highly skilled, motivated and results-oriented professionals to join our team as Junior Auditors .

As a valued member of our team, you will:

• Interpret and Apply Legislations for nonrenewable resources;
• Plan and conduct audits on producers of Saskatchewan’s nonrenewable resources to ensure compliance with a variety of provincial royalty and tax legislation;
• Perform audit procedures on taxpayers' returns, financial statements, business and systems records;
• Prepare and organize working papers to document audit procedures, findings and proposed adjustments;
• Review taxpayers annual royalty/tax returns and other submission;
• Prepare notices of assessment and audited returns for taxpayers;
• Develop oral and written reports explaining and defending the results of the audit; and,
• Respond verbally and in writing to taxpayer inquiries in a calm and professional manner.

The knowledge and abilities required would typically be obtained through the completion of an Accounting Diploma or Business Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, supplemented with relevant work experience.

Candidates that obtained equivalent education outside of Canada are required to submit an ICAS or WES Assessment. The successful candidate may be required to travel occasionally in and out of the province with overnight stays away from headquarters.
