Position Summary:

Joseph Brant Hospital is currently seeking a dynamic Allied Health Services Manager. Reporting to the Director, Mental Health & Addictions, Maternal Child and Interprofessional Practice, the successful individual will be accountable for the delivery of Allied Health Services positive patient experience, people management, risk management and safety and the provision of high quality care. The role is ideally suited to an individual with strong clinical knowledge, leadership skills and experience in implementing progressive and sustainable practices that promote allied health professional excellence and evidence based practice.

As JBH prepares to embark upon a Health Information System transformation, this role will be integral in propelling allied health practice forward. The Manager is accountable for the day-to-day Allied Health Service activities across the organization, including the management of human and material resources, day-to-day staffing and scheduling, developing, nurturing and supporting our people, risk and utilization measurements, and facilitation of improvement initiatives, while operating within the approved operational budget The successful individual will be responsible for establishing and nurturing high performing relationships across the organization, building collaborative partnerships and serving as a leader and change agent in operationalizing strategies that support allied professional practice and the delivery of safe quality interprofessional care, which align with Joseph Brant Hospital’s vision and strategic directions.

Responsibilities:

Joseph Brant Hospital is seeking a motivated, transformational leader for the role of Allied Health Services Manager. In this role you will be responsible for:

  • The management, operations and organizational effectiveness of the organizations Allied Health Services Teams, including managing all aspects of human and financial resources.
  • Working collaboratively with the Program Director, Clinical unit/department Leaders and other key interprofessional stakeholders to address operational issues that impact the delivery of allied services and the efficient use of resources.Coordinating the standard work of the allied staff within and across JBH’s programs and services.
  • Quality & utilization measurement monitoring and feedback to ensure the Allied Health Services team provides effective, efficient and safe service provision in compliance with accepted professional practice requirements in accordance with standards, policies and procedures of the hospital and all regulating bodies.Using leadership and clinical knowledge and skills to promote the delivery of safe, effective and quality patient and family care.
  • Facilitating staff development, and maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the Allied Health team resources through the planning and coordination of human and material resources.
  • Supporting staff in problem solving and decision making by ensuring administrative policies and procedures are followed.
  • Facilitating the use of feedback strategies to maintain and improve performance of team members.
  • Fostering effective employee and labour relations through knowledgeable interpretation and implementation of hospital policies and collective agreements.
  • Leading the development and achievement of allied health services goals and quality improvement plans based on program and corporate strategic plans, while actively engaging the inter-professional team in implementing creative solutions.
  • Utilizing exceptional decision-making, mediating, problem solving and change agent skills to effectively manage the Allied Health Services team.
  • Utilizing data knowledge, organizational, time management, and communication skills to manage competing priorities and provide effective leadership to the staff.
  • Providing leadership in the development of new initiatives by creating an environment that encourages creativity, innovation, adherence to best practice and critical thinking.
  • Demonstrating a commitment to patient and family-centered care, evidence-based practice, and quality of staff work life consistent with the mission, vision, and values of the Hospital.  

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree required.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in progressively more responsible formal leadership/management roles, preferably in a community teaching hospital.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years related clinical experience within Allied Health Services within the acute healthcare setting.
  • Current Certificate of Registration in good standing with the applicable allied regulatory College.
  • Evidence of strong clinical and leadership knowledge and decision making.
  • Evidence of knowledge of, and experience with, Quality and CQI methodology, the use and interpretation of metrics, and change management and lean methodology an asset.
  • Ability to provide support and leadership to advance evidence based inter-professional patient and family-centered care.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated experience in monitoring and managing a clinical budget, financial reporting and analysis.
  • Skilled in staffing, scheduling and optimization.
