Job Description - Nurse Educator

Position Information Program: Enhanced Extern Program, Nursing Resource and Patient Flow Teams. This is a corporate educator position for the Enhanced Extern Program, Nursing Resource and Patient Flow Teams, reporting to the Clinical Manager, Healthcare and Workforce Innovation. There will be a rotation between the civic, general, and transitional care satellite campuses. This position will have responsibilities for the onboarding of new hires, planning, implementation and evaluation of the Enhanced Extern Program, Nursing Resource and Patient Flow Teams. Temporary until approximately October 31, 2024. Rotation/Shifts Days, 8 hour shifts.

Basic Requirements
  • Current certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario;
  • Masters in Nursing or Education;
  • Baccalaureate in Nursing;
  • Minimum of five (5) years current experience in surgery/medicine/related experience;
  • A member of the R.N.A.O. and/or other professionally related group(s) or association(s);
  • Has an understanding of pedagogy and expertise in learning –teaching curriculum development, policy and procedure development and use of e-learning and simulation modalities;
  • Coordinates, assesses, develops, implements and evaluates corporate orientation and all other nursing education activities;
  • Ability to assess, develop, implement and evaluate innovative research-based educational materials/sessions related to corporate roll outs and in assigned clinical area(s);
  • Demonstrates the ability to assess the needs of adult learners and plan appropriate teaching; including the use of technology such as simulation;
  • Demonstrates the ability to coach others to prepare and present educational material in an effective, concise manner;
  • Demonstrates the ability to coach others in the implementation and evaluation of staff learning needs program based on specific leading practices;
  • Demonstrates superior leadership and change management skills;
  • Demonstrates superior interpersonal, facilitation and problem solving skills;
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in oral and written formats;
  • Demonstrates the ability to set priorities, develop work objectives and apply these to his/her activities;
  • Demonstrates an understanding of continuous quality improvement and is committed to its application.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of teaching experience;
  • Proficiency in English and French – oral expression (advanced level) and comprehension (advanced level).
