Job Description - Operations Controller

As the Operational Controller, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing financial activities, ensuring effective financial management and conducting meaningful analysis that will drive business performance. You will be instrumental in optimizing financial processes to improve efficiency and strategic impact.

You are keen to roll up your sleeves and execute on accounting responsibilities while building the right processes that result in providing accurate, timely and relevant financial information to all stakeholders. You take pride in developing and maintaining an effective cost accounting system to reduce cost and improve overall profitability. 

What you will do:

Responsibilities:

  • Reporting & Analysis: Working alongside the FP&A team, support management to achieve organizational objectives by analyzing and interpreting costs & metrics and presenting findings and recommendations to leadership.
  • Inventory Management: Manage and control costs of all manufacturing, material and labor expenses, conduct performance management and determine inventory valuation. The Operational Controller will develop and maintain an inventory management strategy to allow management to understand performance and make data driven decisions.
  • Revenue & Costs: Overall responsibility for Accounts Payable, Revenue Accounting and Accounts Receivable.
  • Compliance: Prepare and pay sales related requirements, ensuring compliance, in a timely manner.
  • Leadership & Team Management: Oversee the operations of the revenue and costs team for achieving the department's goals and objectives by providing mentoring, coaching and training of the Teams.
  • Business Enablement: Lead efficiency improvements including implementation, automation and/or integration of business tools and documentation of policies and procedures, as well as develop and maintain an inventory management strategy to allow management to understand performance and make data driven decisions.

Requirements

We want you to succeed, so you will need:

  • 5+ years of full cycle accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, including at least three years of direct experience in inventory management
  • Experience leading a team and managing direct reports (currently 6)
  • A resilient, flexible, solution oriented approach to addressing areas of improvement, likes digging into issues and enjoys taking leadership in addressing problems
  • Ability to drive change as needed; reviewing and delivering recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Ability to thrive in an environment of flexibility and ambiguity.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Self-directed, highly motivated and energetic
  • Outstanding work ethic with strong commitment to quality and delivering on time
  • Comfortable as an individual contributor, collaborative team member and a leader
  • Qualified CPA/CMA

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Google Suite

Salary range: $120,000 to $135,000 per year

Please note that the base pay offered may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and experience, as well as business and organizational needs.
