Who We Are

The Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) division of Finance and Treasury Board has an opportunity for a Policy and Research Advisor to join our team. What You Will Do

Reporting to the Chief Privacy Officer, the Policy and Research Advisor will assist the Information Access and Privacy Unit ("Unit") in providing strategy, policy, leadership, expert advice, training and guidance on information access and privacy to GNB and other public entities governed by the Right to Information and Protection of Privacy Act ("Act").

The position responsibilities include:

  • undertaking research initiatives exploring best practices and innovations in the field of information access and privacy;
  • compiling and analyzing data and information to help inform key decisions;
  • assisting with legislative proposals concerning the Act;
  • supporting access to information and privacy management processes;
  • providing guidance to members of the public and to organizations working to comply with the Act;
  • helping to develop training and communications materials;
  • providing support to Legislature by preparing briefing notes and other documentation; and
  • contributing to overall operations as required.

"Must Have" QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must possess a Bachelor's Degree in public policy, law, arts, business administration, information management, or related field of study. Experience in an administrative role OR conducting policy or legal research, preferably with a government agency, is required.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.

"Nice to Have" QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference may be given to candidates that possess one or more of the following asset qualifications:

  • Written and spoken competence in French; and
  • Experience with information access and privacy.

Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

Salary: $50,648.00 to $70,772.00 annually.
