Snowflake Developer

Job Title: Snowflake Developer (Consultant Contractor)
Location: Canada Remote
Duration: 12 Months Contract with Possible Extension
Starting Date: Immediate

Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Snowflake Developer to join our team as a Consultant Contractor. The ideal candidate will have a robust understanding of Snowflake on Azure Architecture or other public cloud Snowflake solutions and be capable of designing, implementing, and operationalizing large-scale data and analytics solutions on Snowflake Cloud Data Warehouse. This role involves hands-on development and optimization of data solutions, ensuring effective and efficient data management practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop scalable and efficient data models and ETL processes within Snowflake.
• Implement and manage large-scale data and analytics solutions on Snowflake Cloud Data Warehouse, particularly on Microsoft Azure.
• Hands-on development with Snowflake features such as Snow SQL, Snow Pipe, Python, Tasks, Streams, Time Travel, Zero Copy Cloning, Optimizer, Metadata Manager, data sharing, and stored procedures.
• Develop EL pipelines using a combination of Databricks, Python, and Snow SQL, ensuring optimal data flow in and out of the data warehouse.
• Creation of snowflake views on raw data adhering to provided specifications.
• Build highly scalable Data Warehouse system.
• Write complicated SQLs, analyzing query performance, query tuning, database indexing, DB partitions, and stored procedure development.
• Implement data security and governance best practices.
• Data Ingestion into Snowflake such as Snowpipe and related technology stack.
• Write scripts in UNIX, Python, etc., to extract, load, and transform data, along with other utility functions.
• Provide production support for Data Warehouse issues such as data load problems, transformation/translation problems, and more.
• Translate mapping specifications into data transformation design, development strategies, and code, incorporating standards and best practices for optimal execution.
• Conduct code reviews to ensure fit to requirements, optimal execution patterns, and adherence to established standards.
• Understand and automate data pipelines using modern, cloud-based testing, and document implementations clearly.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Overall 6+ years of IT experience with minimum of 4 years of experience in designing and implementing operational production-grade large-scale data solutions on Microsoft Azure or other Public Cloud Snowflake Data Warehouse.
• Strong experience with productionized data ingestion and processing pipelines using Python, Databricks, Snow SQL.
• Excellent understanding of Snowflake internals and integration of Snowflake with other data processing and reporting technologies.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or JavaScript.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Snowflake SnowPro Certification.
• Experience with cloud services such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Experience in Data Warehousing - OLTP, OLAP, Dimensions, Facts, and Data Modeling.
• Working knowledge of MS Azure configuration items with respect to Snowflake.
• Prior consulting experience or working in a client-facing role.
• Experience working in Onsite-offshore model is complimentary.
