Job Description - System Developer Lead

POSITION:  System Developer Lead (EAM Project)
REPORTS TO: Manager, IT Development
DEPARTMENT:  Information Technology Services (ITS)
LOCATION:  North Bay
REFERENCE:  800-68-25
SALARY:     $88,374- $103,979 WHO WE ARE:

ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:
The System Developer Lead will provide leadership and oversight that will guide the planning and development of all centralized IT services and will support current and new technology initiatives that align with the business objectives of Ontario Northland. MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to the IT Development staff
  • Review existing and new projects to determine the resource assignment requirements and provide reports to the Manager, IT Development on resource allocation
  • Review code and support SDLC processes
  • Review current development systems and solutions and deliver guidance on product lifecycle, upgrade and migration opportunities in order to ensure ITS is providing cost effective and relevant technology solutions
  • Identify and implement efficiencies across the enterprise using technology to improve productivity and increase value
  • Assist with coordinating resources to ensure all documentation is updated or created
  • Conducts meetings/discussions with team colleagues, operation subject matter experts, project managers, senior management, as well as outside consultancy services
  • Collaborate with vendors and consultants, as needed, to ensure effective implementation and maintenance of the EAM/ERP system
  • Serve as a key facilitator at various meetings such as requirements kick-offs, workshops and validation, approval and training sessions, and other meetings as required
  • Assist with coordinating EAM/ERP design and engineer of new policies, upgrades, updates, and general maintenance and documentation
  • Collaborate with colleagues and staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes
  • Ensure new Cloud applications integrate with our systems and determine requirements and engineer solutions required
  • Regular updates and reports to the ITS team and Manager, IT Development
  • Report ITS related KPI and metrics to the Manager, IT Development
  • Subject matter expert on IT trends, techniques and opportunities that can benefit Ontario Northland
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Advanced college diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 6-8 years’ experience in IT Development in an enterprise setting and/or public sector experience
  • Previous experience in managing teams and/or technology programs
  • Experience planning and executing projects using project management techniques, ITIL/ITSM processes
  • Experience with technology related strategic planning, execution and policies
  • Knowledge with the use of technology and automation to solve business problems
  • Understanding of Computer Code
  • Excellent analytical skills with logical approach to problem solving
  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with an ability to manage competing demands
  • Ability to use technology and automation to solve business problems
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on listening, coaching, judgement and decision making
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
  • Knowledge of transportation industry an asset
  • Valid G driver’s license
  • Bilingualism is considered an asset
  • Committed to company health & safety
