Come work as a Data Engineer with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!
Reporting to the Director and operating within the context of a client service culture to provide organizational leadership with respect to information management and analysis, quality measurement and evaluation and utilization strategies, the Data Engineer identifies, develops, implements and maintains an innovative response to the quality, utilization and other information needs of Vancouver Coastal Health. Responsibilities include consultation services, detailed analysis of information including confidential data files; user needs assessment and requirements surveys; integrated report design; development of appropriate database structures and development of dashboards, key performance indicators and balanced scorecards.
As a Data Engineer with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:
- Develop and establish scalable, efficient, automated processes for large scale data analyses, model development, validation and implementation
- Collaborate with a variety of cross-functional team members to identify, develop, implement and maintain innovative solutions for the information needs of Vancouver Coastal Health.
- Apply experience in data modelling, data warehousing, building data pipelines, and excellent problem solving ability to tackle processing of high volumes of clinical data
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems or equivalent industry/certification experience
- Three (3) years experience in Information, Utilization Management and Quality Management.
Knowledge & Abilities
- Working knowledge using cloud data warehousing solutions (e.g. Azure SQL, Synapse Analytics, Databricks, etc.)
- Preferred knowledge of Azure or other cloud infrastructure services
- Demonstrated experience building and optimizing data pipelines (ETL) using SSIS, Azure Data Factory
- Preferred experience with Azure DevOps
- Preferred proficiency coding in Python, Scala, R, Java
- Advanced analytical and problem solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Knowledge of database design and report design at the intermediate to advanced level.
- Knowledge of healthcare databases an asset.
