Job Description - Accounting Intern (Term: September to April )

Work Arrangement:  Hybrid 

Department: Revenue & Financial Reporting Area

Overview:

Pembina's Pipeline Corporations Calgary office is currently recruiting for an Accounting Intern to join the team, in September 2024, for an 8-month fixed-term. This position will report to the Manager, Revenue & Financial Reporting in the Transmission Pipeline Business Unit (TBU) part of Pembina’s Operations Business Division.

 

Pembina's transmission pipeline assets have developed through the strategic acquisition of key natural gas, ethane, and condensate transportation infrastructure assets, positioned in some of the most prolific gas producing regions in western Canada and the United States. Pembina's transmission pipelines provide customers with access to premium markets primarily on a fee-for-service basis under long-term contracts through long-haul pipelines.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Support Pembina’s safety culture of "Zero by Choice" and the “Life Saving Rules”. To read more about our Life Saving Rules, visit pembina.com/safety;
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports and monthly revenue accounting entries;
  • Provide backup for accruals and invoices for Alliance, Cochin, Vantage, AEGS, and monthly interface(s) from QPTM to SAP;
  • Responsible for monthly expense and project accruals as well as other required month/quarter end journal entries;
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly accounting and regulatory schedules as needed;
  • Assist in integrating customers/shippers into our SAP system as part of the onboarding process;
  • Assist with customer queries and collection issues;
  • Coordinate with key stakeholders within the Business Unit, including Logistics, and Commercial Services to ensure invoice accuracy;
  • Keep internal processes and documentation updated as necessary;
  • Work with Internal and External Auditors upon request;
  • Assist team members with ad-hoc queries, analysis, and special projects; and
  • Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.

Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will be energetic, resilient and possess a positive, can-do attitude;
  • Strong knowledge of all MS Office tools, particularly Excel;
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic and dead-line driven environment;
  • Motivated self-starter who performs well independently and within a team environment;
  • Organized, detailed, analytical and able to consistently deliver accurate and timely information;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interface positively and effectively with both internal and external stakeholders;
  • Prior experience with SAP and CommPass software is an asset; and
  • Willingness to commit to an 8-month term.

 

The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. Final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
