Job Description - Summer Intern, Operations / Stagiaire d'été, Opérations

The Role
This is a summer internship opportunity in Laval, Québec from May – August, 2024. The Technical Operations division at Moderna is actively seeking exceptional individuals with a background in science and engineering to contribute to our goal of crafting mRNA-based therapies. As a Summer Intern, you will have the unique chance to join dynamic project teams that are pioneering new manufacturing techniques for mRNA therapeutics and vaccines aimed at the Canadian healthcare market. Here’s What You’ll Do Operate within a regulated framework, gaining proficiency in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). Engage in the production of qualification and submission batches necessary for Health Canada's approval, including a 12-week cycle of 24/7 shifts: involving hands-on production tasks, solution preparation, sampling, and cleaning of equipment and facilities. Contribute to investigations of quality discrepancies and health and safety events, as well as corrective and preventive action (CAPA) initiatives. Assist in the development of standard operating procedures and work instructions pertaining to production, quality, engineering, and health and safety. Aid in the deployment of site-wide processes (encompassing production, engineering-maintenance, quality, and quality control) and the enhancement of work organization using principles such as 5S, Visual Management, and Lean Manufacturing. Participate in health and safety risk assessments for different workstations. Be involved in the validation of cleaning processes for equipment, which includes taking samples and evaluating results. Develop scaled-down models and high-throughput experimental setups for specific unit operations. Engage in the review of batch records, data collection, investigation strategies, and the identification of root cause analyses (RCA) and CAPA in response to deviations, unexpected results, or trends. Contribuer à l'élaboration de procédures opérationnelles normalisées et d'instructions de travail relatives à la production, à la qualité, à l'ingénierie, à la santé et à la sécurité. Contribuer au déploiement de processus à l'échelle du site (englobant la production, l'ingénierie et la maintenance, la qualité et le contrôle de la qualité) et à l'amélioration de l'organisation du travail à l'aide de principes tels que les 5S, la gestion visuelle et la production allégée (Lean Manufacturing). Participer à l'évaluation des risques en matière de santé et de sécurité pour différents postes de travail. Participer à la validation des processus de nettoyage des équipements, ce qui inclut le prélèvement d'échantillons et l'évaluation des résultats. Développer des modèles à échelle réduite et des montages expérimentaux à haut débit pour des opérations unitaires spécifiques. Participer à l'examen des dossiers de lot, à la collecte de données, aux stratégies d'investigation et à l'identification des analyses des causes profondes (RCA) et CAPA en réponse aux déviations, aux résultats inattendus ou aux tendances.
