Job Description

What is the opportunity?
Are you interested in working as a Quantum Developer on the Innovation & Tech team in Technology & Operations at the Royal Bank of Canada?
RBC’s Technology Strategy & Innovation team is responsible for researching and identifying emerging technologies that could impact financial services. Experimenting with these to determine function and value. Partnering with business lines across the enterprise to adopt new capabilities in a scaled, secure, and production-grade capability.


What will you do?

  • Exploring the type and computational complexity of algorithms we use in the bank today for day-to-day processing.

  • Work in a team evaluating which problems can be more gracefully expressed as a quantum algorithm.

  • Design and express the algorithm in leading quantum software libraries.

  • Work with security team to understand and implement quantum cryptographic techniques.

  • Express algorithms as gates and circuits in quantum development software libraries


What do you need to succeed?


Must-have

  • Currently enrolled at a Canadian post-secondary institution with a focus on Math in Computer Science (Quantum Information), or MScAC in Quantum Computing or equivalent

  • Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Creative and analytical thinker who is self-driven and capable of working in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong MS Office skills – Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Knowledge of programming and scripting languages - Python

  • Communication, Time Management, Leadership, Stakeholder Engagement, Analytical Thinking, Problem Solving, Results Driven, Curiosity, Strategic Thinking


Nice-to-have

  • Understanding of IT Standards, Methodologies (SDLC, PMF)

  • Knowledge of Business Analysis Processes (requirements gathering, documentation, use cases)
