Wage Rate: $18.60 per hour

Position Summary


Provide recreation, leisure, and social opportunities through planned programs and activities, provided to help enhance each Elder’s quality of life, reflecting their past and current interests.


Job Duties and Responsibilities 


Activity Aide:


• Assist department staff in the development, coordination, and implementation of Elder programs/activities, both in the Home and in the community. A mix of individual, small group and large group options will be available. 


• Encourage Elder choice and independence in recreation and other activities, as part of a person-directed care philosophy. 


• Liaise and work in cooperation with nursing, dietary and environmental services.


• Program planning and implementation, dietary requisitions, room bookings, outing forms, schedule volunteers, purchase supplies, assist Elders to and from programs/activities, set-up, and clean-up of program/activity spaces. 


General:


• Incumbents must keep up to date on all relevant legislation, County Policies and Procedures, etc. ensuring these are implemented as prescribed.


• Incumbents must possess the physical ability to meet the duties and responsibilities of the job description and/or the requirements identified within the position's Physical Demands Analysis.

Credentials Required


Minimum Formal Education


• Completed a minimum of one year of college or university in Recreation/Leisure studies, Therapeutic Recreation, Kinesiology, or a related field.
