About the Role

As an AI Intern at BMO Wealth, you will work at the intersection of AI strategy, business architecture, and applied AI delivery, helping shape and build AI solutions that directly support Wealth business outcomes.

You will focus on GenAI, Copilot, and agent-based solutions that enhance:

• Advisor productivity and decision support
• Client servicing and experience
• Operational efficiency across Wealth

This role spans two core pillars:

• AI Business Architecture
• Data Engineering & AI Delivery

You will help translate real business problems into practical AI solutions, contributing from use case design to prototyping to delivery enablement.

What You’ll Work On

AI Business Architecture (Strategy to Use Case Design)

• Assist with shaping high-impact AI use cases across advisor Copilot, client servicing, and operations
• Support development of AI solution architectures and workflows
• Participate in business workshops to translate needs into AI opportunities
• Help define scope, feasibility, and value drivers
• Analyze trends in GenAI, Copilot, and agent-based AI
• Develop artifacts such as architecture diagrams, use case briefs, and summaries

Data Engineering & AI Delivery (Prototype to Implementation Support)

• Prototype AI solutions using Python and Azure AI/OpenAI platforms
• Build and test GenAI and Copilot experiences
• Experiment with LLMs including prompt engineering and RAG approaches
• Support development of agent-based workflows
• Assist in lightweight data pipelines and integrations
• Help move solutions from prototype toward scalable implementation

Cross-Pillar Contributions

• Collaborate across business and engineering teams
• Contribute to active AI initiatives
• Participate in internal and business workshops
• Build reusable assets and templates

What Success Looks Like

• Assistance with AI use case definitions aligned to business value
• Delivered working GenAI or Copilot prototypes
• Produced clear architecture artifacts and summaries
• Demonstrated ability to work across business and technical domains
• Contributed meaningfully to priority initiatives

Qualifications

Required

• Enrolled in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field
• Understanding of AI/ML fundamentals
• Familiarity with LLMs or GenAI tools
• Strong communication skills
• Comfortable in fast-paced environments

Preferred

• Strong Python skills
• Experience with Azure AI, OpenAI, or Copilot technologies
• Exposure to prompt engineering, RAG, or agent-based systems
• Familiarity with APIs, data pipelines, or cloud AI workflows
• Experience with applied AI projects

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
