Job Description - Arts, Culture & Heritage Student


REPORTS TO: Director of Economic Development & Tourism
LOCATION: Initial Placement – Wincey Mills

General Purpose:
  • To work with Arts, Culture and Heritage staff to help develop the industry in the County of Brant and to help capture and share the stories of the County of Brant.
Responsibilities/Duties:
  • Assist in evaluating and championing the Arts, Culture & Heritage assets within Brant. 
  • Assist with research and the presentation of heritage narratives.
  • Assist with the administrative tasks associated with Culture Days.
  • Work with local artists, creatives, and community members to support the industry and collect the stories of the community.
  • Provide support for various arts, culture and heritage tasks outlined and in the County of Brant Arts, Culture and Heritage Strategy.
  • Attend events throughout the County.
Knowledge/Skills Required:
  • Experience with Microsoft Applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Demonstrated research and presentation skills (in heritage or cultural fields would be an asset).
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills and experience working with the public.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate as part of a team and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Valid class G driver’s license and use of a vehicle with acceptable driver’s abstract is required.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends when required.
Assets:
  • Experience with technical and creative writing
  • Knowledge of Truth and Reconciliation and Ontario Heritage regulations
  • Local history knowledge.
Education: Completed at least one year of post-secondary education and enrolled in Museum Studies, Public History, Arts or Culture program or a related field.

Duration: May to August (35 hours/week)
Hourly Rate: $22.54 (2025)

You must be enrolled in a post-secondary Institution and returning to school in the fall in order to qualify for this position with the exception of completing a final co-op term.
