The McMaster Students Union (MSU) is the largest group on campus representing approximately 27,000 undergraduate students at McMaster University. All students enrolled in 18 (or more units) are members of the MSU. The MSU serves students in two main areas; political representation and the enhancement of student life. The MSU operates more than two dozen different services to serve the needs of students. As well, the MSU is the front line of student advocacy. The MSU advocates for student interests at the university, municipal, provincial and federal levels of government.

The Assistant Clubs Administrator, in conjunction with the Clubs Administrator, is responsible to act as a liaison between the Clubs Department and MSU clubs, answering all inquiries received in person, via phone, or email. The Assistant Clubs Administrator will manage space for clubs, assist in events/communications, as well as assist in risk management/EOHSS. This position will also act as the Chair of the Clubs Advisory Council.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Interpersonal skills required to effectively interact with staff, volunteers, club members and the CAC
Must have a thorough understanding of the Clubs Department in order to provide accurate information
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and email programs required to fulfill many of the communications functions
Strong written and verbal communication skills are required
Ability to remain impartial and keep confidentiality with regards to personnel and clubs’ issues
Effort & Responsibility
Exercising judgement to escalate club issues to the Clubs Administrator when appropriate
Organizational skills are required, as event coordination requires the completion of many tasks simultaneously
Responsible for promoting a positive and proper image of McMaster Students Union

Must be able to cope with and prioritize the multitude demands of the position
Work will take place primarily in a controlled office environment, but also in a variety of event locations around campus
Training and Experience
Experience planning events and mitigating risk (risk management) is an asset
Experience with marketing and promotions is an asset
Administrative experience with committee work is an asset
Knowledge of the MSU Clubs Department and policies
Additional training will be provided
Equipment
Personal computer, photocopier, fax machine, etc.
