Job Description - Cashier - Student Position

Role Overview


A Cashier provides daily operational support in all of the MSA food service operations in delivering value-based service excellence. Cashiers report to, work under the supervision of, and receive daily direction from the Hospitality Coordinator(s).


You ensure every interpersonal interaction is a positive experience, engaging and supporting students and team members. You’ll work under the supervision and direction of the Hospitality Coordinators supporting the food court operations, maintaining a focus on student experience and being an ambassador of MSA values. Best practices will be a focal point of the position in the areas of food safety, payment processing, customer service and day-to-day business operations.



Accountabilities



  • Be the first point of contact for our students and guests

  • All orders, transactions, and payment processing

  • Responsible for maintaining all guest facing areas

  • Maintains positive relationships with students, staff, and partners.

  • Constant adherence to all Health & Safety policies to ensure the wellbeing of the team, students and guests.

  • Greet all students and guests in a prompt, kind and hospitable manner,

  • Accurately enter all orders to POS, process payments and close all transactions by tender type.

  • Perform opening and closing cash duties including counting cash, balancing float, reconciling and verifying batch reports,

  • Performs outlet opening and closing duties including service stand set up, restocking and cleaning.

  • Maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

  • Ensuring value-based Service Excellence and quality standards.

  • Communicating student food security needs and feedback.

  • Provides support to other areas when required.

  • Maintaining a comprehensive menu knowledge to assist students and guests with menu selection, allergy questions and dietary restrictions.

  • Reports Food Services risk management, health and safety, maintenance, and equipment issues to be addressed.



Physical Demands/Work Environment



  • Standard work hours are 0 - 20 hours per week. This may include evenings and weekends when required.

  • Travel between campuses may be required.

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.

  • Able to stand for prolonged periods.



Education, Experience and Training



  • Preferred experience in a food service environment.

  • Preferred food handler’s certification

  • Preferred knowledge about food allergies & dietary restrictions.

  • Legally eligible to work in Canada.

  • Understanding and experience with various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.

  • Currently enrolled in a Mohawk College program (open to all students).

  • Legally eligible to work in Canada.

  • Customer service experience.

  • Must be available to work based on the business needs of the department through your school schedule.
