The Opportunity

We are currently seeking Civil/Structural Engineering Student to join our Central Engineering Department in Sudbury. This is a fixed term co-op position, 8 months in duration, beginning in May of 2026. 

Note: this posting is only eligible if you are enrolled full time in a University or College Engineering or Engineering Technology program. As a Civil/Structural Engineering Co-op student, you will be provided with an opportunity that will allow you to gain valuable experience, knowledge and be a part of shaping our mining operations.  

Additionally, in this position you will:

• Follow Vale’s Safety Policies, Programs and Legislative Standards
• Develop skills and abilities related to the provision of engineering in Ontario
• Ensure compliance with the applicable laws, standards and guidelines
• Provide technical support to enable safe and efficient operations in an industrial plant, mine or production laboratory.
• Complete assigned projects safely and on time. Project work may include tasks such as engineering document preparation, reviewing and updating engineering standards performing data analysis, and preparing reports

About You

Education:

• Must be currently enrolled and in good standing in a Bachelor of Engineering University program or an Engineering Technology College program with a discipline in Civil/Structural Engineering.

Skills:

• Ability to apply civil and structural engineering knowledge and principles in practical work settings.
• Demonstrate good written and oral communication skills.
• Strong computer skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 products; Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and work well with others in a team environment.
• Must be obsessed with safety and risk.
• Demonstrate open and transparent dialogue in all aspects of work.
• Maintain high level of professional conduct.

Pay Grade: Student

Minimum Starting Hourly Rate: $21.50
