Communications & Social Media Coordinator (Canada Summer Jobs)

Jean Tweed Centre is a leading, community-based organization that provides a safe and supportive environment for women with substance use, mental health, and gambling concerns. Recognizing the diversity of women’s experience in today’s society, our programs seek to address a range of issues in a woman’s life that may contribute to substance use and gambling concerns. Understanding each woman’s experience within the broader physical, emotional, social, cultural and gender framework, we provide a client-centered approach to health.

The Jean Tweed Centre is building capacity to transform the level of support for women with substance use, mental health, and gambling concerns.

Position Overview

We are currently seeking a motivated Fundraising Intern to join our team and assist with various tasks related to events, promotions, communications, and administration within the fundraising and marketing department. This role presents an exciting opportunity for an individual with strong communication skills who is eager to contribute to the growth of The Jean Tweed Centre's donor base and public visibility.

How will you help to get us there?

As the Communications & Social Media Coordinator, you will:

• Assist in the preparation for fundraising events and related communications
• Support donor communications, including the drafting of thank-you letters.
• Conduct research to identify new funding opportunities.
• Create and schedule social media updates across platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
• Draft compelling content to promote Jean Tweed's programs, services, and fundraising initiatives.
• Undertake additional duties as assigned by the Senior Manager, Fund Development and Communications.

Pay: $18 per hour

Location:  215 Evans Ave., Etobicoke, ON M8Z 1J5

Hours of Work: The hours of work are 9am - 4pm, 35 hours per week

What will you bring?

• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Detail-oriented with a strong ability to manage tasks independently.
• Proficiency in social media platforms and experience in creating engaging posts and content.
• Familiarity with graphic design tools such as Canva is an asset.
• Demonstrated eagerness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment.
• Hootsuite experience an asset.
