Job Title: Communications Specialist – Graphic Design & Visual Content
Reports to: Manager, Advocacy and Research
Department: Advocacy and Research (Communications Unit)
Duration/Term Length: Up to two (2) academic semesters: subject to semester-by-semester renewal
Compensation: $18/Hour (adjust as needed)
Work Hours: Approximately 15 hours per week within normally scheduled operating hours, in addition to occasional evening/weekend meetings. Hours may vary depending on the time of the semester.
Location: Hybrid (remote and in-person), with rotation across campuses as necessary.
Overview
Reporting to the Manager, Advocacy and Research, the Communications Specialist – Graphic Design & Visual Content is a member of the Advocacy & Research team and supports student representation through visual communication.
The role translates research findings, student consultations, and advocacy priorities into accessible and engaging visual materials. Rather than operating as a separate marketing function, communications staff participate in planning meetings, campaign development, and issue response alongside research and advocacy staff.
This position supports evidence-based advocacy by helping students understand complex issues such as affordability, wellness, academic policy, and institutional decision-making.
