Job Description - CSJ Administrative Assistant - CELC Peterborough Region

Job Type: Canada Summer Jobs Summer Contract



Location: Peterborough, Ontario



Hours: 35 hours per week. Monday to Friday 



Anticipated Start Date: July 6, 2026 



Anticipated: August 28, 2026

With over 700 Staff and 80 Home Child Care providers, we offer 44 high-quality licensed childcare centers and over 80 licensed homes serving over 4,000 families.

About the role:


At Compass ELC, you will work as a Summer Administrative Assistant alongside some of the most passionate, caring, and dedicated people. You will engage, connect, and work alongside our dynamic Admin Team. You will model and grow a perspective of equity and strive for a deeper understanding of cultural awareness. Hours will be based on the program's needs and funding. This contract position is 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday. 


 


Key Responsibilities: 



  • Working as part of a team with coworkers, Families, and Community Partners.

  • Supporting projects within the administrative office, home child care, and school-age teams. 

  • Supporting our software systems. 

  • Ability to use Microsoft Word, Office, PowerPoint, and Excel. 

  • Ensuring that equity and equality are upheld.

  • Supporting with scanning, uploading, and editing staff files.

  • Supporting with administrative paperwork.

  • Familiar with and able to create marketing materials with Canva.

  • Website support and maintenance.



Skills and Qualifications: 



  • 1-2 years of administrative experience.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Post-Secondary Degree in relevant field, or working towards a Post-Secondary Degree in relevant field.

  • Updated Criminal Reference Check or Vulnerable Sector Check within the last 6 months.

  • Has the required documentation and paperwork required by the Ministry of Education and Compass ELC Policies.

  • Proficient in computer software and technology



Requirements:  


As a Canada Summer Jobs Funded role, applicants must meet the following requirements to be eligible for employment:



  1. is between 18 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;

  2. is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, S.C. 2001, c. 27*; and

  3. is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
    *International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.
