Cyber Security Analyst Intern

What is the opportunity?

Are you interested in working as a 12-month Cyber Security Analyst Intern on the Global Security Team in Technology & Operations at the Royal Bank of Canada?

RBC’s Adversary Emulation Team is responsible for identifying weaknesses in process and technology by executing objective-focused Red Team operations and Purple Team exercises targeting core and emerging business functions. We are a team of experienced and enthusiastic security experts, vulnerability researchers, exploit developers and penetration testers that are passionate about solving complex cyber security problems and developing novel attack techniques.

What will you do?

• Participate in hands-on execution of Red Team Operations and Purple Team Exercises.
• Assist in developing, maintaining and refining our offensive tradecraft and tooling.
• Conduct vulnerability research and exploit development.   

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have      

• Knowledge of Programming and Scripting Languages, such as Python, SQL, JS.
• Interest in ethical hacking, red teaming, malware and offensive cyber operations).
• Specific Skills / Experience in APIs and Network Security.
• Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills (verbal and written).
• Creative and analytical thinker who is self-driven and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong MS Office skills – Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-have

• Knowledge of Programming and Scripting Languages, such as C++ and C#.
• Past experience participating in Capture the Flag (CTF) / Hack The Box challenges.
• Experience with LLMs, agentic AI frameworks.
• Transferrable Skills: Communication, Time Management, Leadership, Stakeholder Engagement, Analytical Thinking, Problem Solving, Results Driven, Curiosity, Strategic Thinking.
