Job Description - Electrical AutoCAD Drafter - Summer Student

Gorman Bros. Lumber Ltd., a division of the Gorman Group, is a modern, progressive sawmill located in West Kelowna, in British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley. We are seeking a motivated Summer Student – Electrical AutoCAD Drafter to support our Electrical team. This role is ideal for a student with hands-on AutoCAD experience who is eager to apply their technical skills in a real-world industrial environment. The successful candidate will assist with drafting, updating, and maintaining electrical and technical drawings while gaining exposure to manufacturing and maintenance operations.


Duties:



  • Create, update, and maintain accurate 2D technical drawings using AutoCAD and related design software

  • Support electrical layouts, schematics, and documentation

  • Revise drawings based on feedback from engineers, electricians, and project stakeholders

  • Perform quality checks to ensure drawings meet company and industry standards

  • Organize and maintain drawing files and documentation

  • Assist with special projects as required by the Electrical team


Qualifications:



  • Currently enrolled in an Engineering, Engineering Technology, CAD, or other related technical program.

  • Completion of an AutoCAD skills certificate or related program is an asset

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to draft in 2D; basic 3D drafting is an asset

  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with team members

  • Willingness to learn, take on challenges, and adapt in a fast-paced environment

  • Is self-motivated and capable of working independently with guidance
