Position Type: Unpaid student placement

Position Overview


The HR student will support a wide range of human resources functions, gaining valuable hands-on experience while contributing to key organizational initiatives. The role will involve working closely with the HR team on projects that improve organizational efficiency, recruitment, policy implementation, and staff wellness initiatives.



Key Contributions


Recruitment and Selection


Objective: Build skills in the recruitment process, from designing to support selection training.



  • Interview Question Repository: Design a repository of standardized interview questions based on job roles and required competencies.

  • Selection Process Training: Assist in the development and facilitation of selection process training for hiring managers and team members.

  • Job Description Development: Create and refine job descriptions for both new and existing positions to ensure role clarity.

  • Cross-site Alignment: Ensure that job descriptions are standardized and aligned across all organizational sites.



Compliance Support


Objective: Support and gain experience in organizational accreditation planning



  • Committee collaboration: Participating in planning committee meetings and partnering with team members on accreditation actions and projects

  • Compliance review: Completing inspections in HRIS files that align with accreditation requirements and project plan

  • Documentation: Documenting in personnel files with supporting evidence

  • Research: Reviewing accreditation guidelines and providing recommendations



HRIS


Objective: Gain experience in HRIS implementation



  • HRIS Data Management: Input and manage employee data in the HRIS, ensuring accuracy and timely updates.

  • Change Management Support: Assist in the development of change management strategies to ensure full adoption of the HRIS across the organization.

  • Recruitment and Selection Support: Create HRIS hiring pools that support talent management. Including building an implementation and procedural plan

  • HRIS Onboarding: Support the creation and implementation of onboarding for students within the HRIS.



Organizational Responsibilities



  • Promotes and demonstrates through example the mission, values, and culture of KCHC

  • Complies with all relevant legislation and KCHC policies, including privacy laws

  • Supports consistent application and development of KCHC policies and procedures

  • Supports KCHC’s student and volunteer placement programs

  • Promotes awareness of and participation in KCHC activities

  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and quality improvement

Requirements



  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary Human Resources Program.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to being a team player.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and above average attention to detail.

  • General understanding of the programs and services offered at Kingston Community Health Centres (KCHC).

  • Current and satisfactory Criminal and Vulnerable Persons Check.
