Job Description - Internship - Cost Benefit Analysis Integrations

Who We Are 

Limestone Analytics (Limestone) is an international consulting firm, specializing in the economic analysis of public policies, social programs, and international development projects. We help organizations advance meaningful change through collaborative and evidence-based decision making. Since our inception in 2016, Limestone has successfully completed assignments for governments, multilaterals, and large NGOs around the world, including USAID, the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), the World Bank, World Vision, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the World Health Organization, and Nutrition International. 

The Role 

Limestone is seeking an intern for a short-term engagement on a project delivering cost-benefit analysis (CBA) models to a client. This assignment would be suitable for a university student studying economics, computer science, or a similar degree who is looking to gain industry experience in applied economic analysis consulting. The work is expected to require up to 72 hours of the intern’s effort beginning in early October 2025 and ending in December 2025. Responsibilities may include:

  • Reviewing and revising existing CBA methodology documents (plain-language descriptions and LaTeX calculations);
  • Re-structuring existing spreadsheet-based implementations of CBA models;
  • Implementing CBA logic as Python code;
  • Systematically verifying updated CBA model results against a source-of-truth comparison.

The student will work with and report to the Technical Manager leading the project.

Qualifications

  • Student studying economics, computer science, or a similar degree
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent English reading and writing abilities
  • Ability to work independently (under supervision) and manage progress towards milestones, subject to deadlines
  • Ability to independently and collaboratively identify, clearly describe, and solve problems
  • Strong coding/scripting aptitude
    • Demonstrated learning through coursework is preferred
    • Familiarity/experience with Python and common packages (e.g., Numpy, Pandas) is preferred
    • Familiarity/experience with spreadsheets (preferably Google Sheets) is preferred
    • Familiarity/experience with LaTeX is an asset

Salary, Benefits, & Work Environment

  • This role is mainly remote; however, the intern will have the opportunity to use Limestone's Kingston office space as desired. The student may be asked to attend meetings or training in the office from time to time.
  • Hours are flexible. The student will be required to meet deadlines and attend scheduled meetings, but will have the ability to complete work in a way that complements their school and personal schedules. 
  • Expected LOE (level of effort) is 72 hours between October and December 2025. There is potential for a second internship/ project upon completion of the project.  
  • This internship will be posted in partnership with a third-party organization. Hiring for this internship is conditional on successful onboarding to the partner platform. *No action is required of applicants until successful completion of the hiring process.
  • The student must reside in Canada and be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident to qualify for this internship due to the funding partner.
