The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Mineral Processing and Mineralogy Co-Op Student to join our Mineral Processing team in Mississauga.

 

This is an on-site position, working a Monday – Friday schedule.  This is a 12 month-fixed term co-op position starting in May 2026.

 

As a Mineral Processing and Mineralogy Co-Op Student you will support all work done for exploration, ore evaluation, process development, operations, and marketing. This covers the whole range of tests, from chemical assaying and mineralogy to mineral separation and grinding. The Technology and Innovation Centre supports our operations in Brazil, Manitoba, Ontario, and Newfoundland/Labrador. Work may include support at operations or on the mineral processing mini-pilot plant.

 

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Be responsible for prioritizing your own health and safety, as well as that of your co‑workers. You are expected to follow all company health, safety, and operational procedures and protocols at all times.
  • Support the collection of chemical assay, metallurgical, and mineralogical data while working in chemical assay laboratories, mineral separation laboratories, or mineralogy laboratories.
  • Conduct froth flotation testing to evaluate mill recovery from various ore types.
  • Perform comminution testing to assess the hardness and grindability of ores and host rocks.
  • Support mini pilot plant testing across a variety of projects.

About You

Education:

  • Currently enrolled in a College or University program in a science, engineering, technology, or related field

Skills:

  • Fundamental knowledge of mineral processing principles, including crushing, grinding, flotation, and separation processes.
  • Hands‑on experience with laboratory testing through university coursework (chemical, metallurgical, or mineral processing labs).
  • Interest in geometallurgical studies, circuit simulation, and metallurgical performance evaluation (e.g., recovery curves, grindability).
  • Quick learner with the ability to absorb new concepts and techniques efficiently.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to ask questions, seek clarification, and share information clearly with peers and supervisors.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration, especially when supporting larger, multi‑disciplinary projects.
  • Basic technical writing and presentation skills

Pay Grade: UG2

Minimum Starting Salary: $24,25 per hour
