Penny Appeal Canada is looking for an excited, engaged, and committed youth from visible minority/racialized communities, including new immigrants/refugees to work with the fundraising team, in the capacity as a Fund development Officer. The role will focus on developing relationships between Penny Appeal Canada and the community, while implementing, facilitating, and managing programming, volunteering, and fundraising strategies and initiatives.
This work includes maintaining a database of stakeholders and donors, with an emphasis on timely strategic actions in order to maximize and diversify both awareness and revenue to fund Penny Appeal Canada’s various initiatives and programs. Other tasks include organization, coordination, management, delivery and execution of fundraising and volunteer events, organizing and managing program distribution events, including community engagement, and updating senior management through regular progress and activity reports.
Responsibilities:
Design and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to achieve significant revenue goals to support the mission, vision, and strategic direction of the organization.
Expand revenue from all fundraising streams to include individuals, corporations, congregations, and other community groups through direct mail, workplace giving, special events, tours, major gifts, planned gifts, and other fundraising initiatives.
Ensure that the organization has a highly functioning system for donor stewardship
Ensure strong development operations including data entry and management, donor acknowledgements, gift processing, and income reconciliation.
Manage Masjid and community relations in order to hold collections year round, distribute materials for specific campaigns, and host fundraisers at Masjids
Provide fundraising support to stakeholders (organizations and individuals) working with Penny Appeal Canada
Utilize all social media platforms, including personal, to promote Penny Appeal Canada’s messaging, campaigns, activities, and appeals
Requirements:
Post-secondary education
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in G Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and Asana preferred
A highly organized individual who is able to handle a variety of constituencies, manage multiple tasks simultaneously and thrive in a complex environment with multiple priorities
Flexible approach to work in order to accommodate international stakeholder meetings, events, functions, and work activities
Ability to treat peers fairly by maintaining consistent values inspiring trust and confidence through personal credibility
Strong demonstrated program development experience with the ability to engage a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
A team player, who can interrelate and operate effectively with peers and other associates within a collegial, yet demanding, work environment.
Must be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act* (international students are not eligible)
Flexible approach to work in order to accommodate events, functions, and work activities
Drivers' license in good standing and access to a vehicle
Willing and able to travel approximately 30% of the time
