GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Street Team Ambassador is responsible for supporting the Durham College Student Association’s student engagement, events, services, and marketing initiatives. The Street Team Ambassador acts as a public-facing representative of the DCSA and helps create a welcoming, energetic, and inclusive environment for students at both the Oshawa and Whitby campuses.

This position is ideal for a student who is outgoing, approachable, energetic, and comfortable engaging with students in person and through social media. Reporting to the Marketing Coordinator, the Street Team Ambassador will help promote DCSA programs, events, services, and initiatives through face-to-face outreach, campus activations, and digital content creation.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

The Street Team Ambassador covers a wide variety of responsibilities in supporting student engagement and the daily promotion of DCSA services and events. It is important to note that not all functions and duties are contained within this definition, and the position itself should remain flexible and adaptive to the needs of the organization. Nevertheless, specific roles and responsibilities allocated to this position include, but are not limited to:

• Representing the DCSA in a positive, professional, inclusive, and enthusiastic manner at all times;


• Supporting high-energy campus activations at both the Oshawa and Whitby campuses, including pop-up booths, campus tours, promotional activities, and other student engagement initiatives;


• Proactively engaging with students to promote DCSA events, services, programs, and opportunities;


• Creating awareness of DCSA services, including but not limited to the Health Plan, locker services, clubs, events, student supports, and other member services;


• Assisting with the planning, filming, and development of social media content for platforms such as TikTok and Instagram;


• Appearing in DCSA social media content, promotional videos, and student-facing campaigns where appropriate;


• Assisting with the setup, operation, and teardown of event materials, signage, tables, displays, and promotional equipment;


• Supporting DCSA events and campaigns by encouraging student participation and creating a welcoming environment;


• Staying informed about DCSA services, events, and campaigns in order to answer student questions or direct students to the appropriate staff member or service;


• Assisting with the distribution of promotional materials and information across campus;


• Working collaboratively with DCSA staff and student employees to support the success of engagement initiatives;


• Performing other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications and attributes:

• Must be a current Durham College student;


• Naturally outgoing, enthusiastic, approachable, and comfortable speaking with students;


• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills;


• Comfortable starting conversations with students and engaging with groups;


• Strong understanding of social media platforms, especially TikTok and Instagram;


• An interest in trends, student culture, digital storytelling, and content creation;


• Previous experience creating social media content is considered an asset;


• Reliable, punctual, responsible, and able to work with minimal supervision;


• Able to work effectively as part of a team;


• Comfortable being on their feet for extended periods of time;


• Able to assist with carrying, lifting, and moving event equipment and materials as required;


• Flexible schedule, including availability for evenings and occasional weekends;


• Demonstrated commitment to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all students.
