Job Description - Summer Camp Supervisor

THEMUSEUM is seeking a creative, enthusiastic, and innovative student to join our team as a Camp Program Assistant (Supervisor) for our STEAM-themed Summer Day Camps. This role works closely with the Family Experience Manager to plan, develop, and deliver engaging camp programming, while supporting the successful day-to-day operation of camp activities.


 


Prior to the start of camp, the Camp Program Assistant will support the development of camp themes and activities through research, content creation, and administrative coordination. During camp operations, the Assistant will help facilitate a fun, educational, and valuable experience for all campers by ensuring activities are well-prepared, appropriately staffed, and delivered in an engaging and safe environment. The Assistant will also support supervision of Camp Leaders and contribute to overall program execution.


 


 


POSITION DETAILS:



  • Hourly Wage: $18.60/hour

  • Hours: 40 hours per week

  • Duration: 15 weeks

  • Anticipated Start Date: May 25, 2025


 


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Researching, developing, and scheduling new content and activities for camp sessions

  • Creating and organizing program materials, including scripts, crafts, and games

  • Assisting with administrative tasks, including scheduling and daily tracking

  • Supporting camper sign-in and sign-out procedures

  • Organizing activities and preparing materials in advance

  • Monitoring and replenishing consumable supplies

  • Contributing to the camp library of activities, crafts, and resources

  • Engaging in interactive, supervised play with campers during on-site and off-site activities

  • Supporting supervision of Camp Leaders and ensuring appropriate coverage for all activities

  • Enacting disciplinary actions when required, including communicating with parents/guardians when necessary

  • Performing first aid as needed


SKILLS:



  • Experience supporting or delivering educational programming, particularly in STEAM-related areas

  • Experience working with children and youth in a camp, classroom, or recreational setting

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated organization, time management, and leadership abilities

  • Ability to present engaging, age-appropriate programming

  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and problem-solve in a dynamic environment


 


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:



  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a secondary or post-secondary program (students and recent graduates encouraged to apply)

  • Background or interest in one or more of the following areas: STEAM, Education, Social Sciences, Recreation & Leisure, or Museum Studies

  • First Aid and CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain)

  • Valid Vulnerable Sector Police Check

  • Must be between 18 and 30 years of age at the start of employment to meet specific government funding requirements

  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act in order to meet specific government funding requirements

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

  • Ability to be active throughout the day (standing, walking, lifting up to 40 lbs)
