Photographer and Digital Ministry Intern

Sherwood Park Alliance Church invites an enthusiastic individual to join us as a Photographer and Digital Ministry Intern for the summer. This role is designed for a person with a keen eye for photography and a heart for service in a technological capacity within a faith-based community. This position is supported by a Government Grant, and applicants must meet the age requirement of 15 – 30 years and be either a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident.
Key Accountabilities:
Capture, edit, and produce visual content (photo, video, and graphic) for use across multiple platforms.
Capture and edit photography and short-form video to highlight events, programs, and stories of community impact.
Collaborate with the Communications team to develop creative assets that enhance digital storytelling and ministry communication.
Support event coverage and create highlight videos, recap reels, and photo collections.
Design engaging visuals for internal screens, website, and digital campaigns.
Assist ministry teams (Kids, Youth, and others) with creative content needs such as promotional photographs, announcements, or storytelling projects.
Organize and manage media files to build a digital asset library.
Learning Opportunities/Skill Development:
Hands-on training in photography, videography, editing, and digital production.
Experience using professional tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and social media scheduling software.
Exposure to brand management, creative direction, and digital storytelling strategy.
Mentorship in communications, project planning, and collaboration within a nonprofit context.
Additional Requirements/Responsibilities:
Engage in Abuse Prevention training as part of the onboarding process.
Take part in regular staff meetings and chapels, contributing ideas and feedback.
Uphold the “Rule of Life” as practiced by our staff, adhering to the moral and ethical guidelines set forth in the Staff Handbook.
Qualifications:
Age between 15 – 30 years.
Canadian citizen or permanent resident status.
A living relationship with Jesus Christ, and a desire to support the church’s mission through technology.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Competence in digital photography and videography.
Familiarity with audio and visual technology is an asset.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Working Hours: 35 hours per week, with an hourly wage.
Reporting to: Communications Manager
Special Notes:
Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
Some weekend will be required
Tentative Internship period: 16 weeks
