The Distribution Integrated System Planning Summer Student  will join ENMAX Power’s planning team to help advance how we prepare for the future of electricity distribution. You’ll work on real projects that support the integration of electric vehicles, solar panels, and other emerging technologies into our grid. Your work will include using CYME software for load modeling, building dashboards in Power BI, and analyzing data to support long-term capital planning. This is a great opportunity to apply your technical skills, collaborate with experienced engineers, and contribute to the energy transition in a meaningful way.

This position is part of the 2026 ENMAX Summer Student Program. It is a 16-week program demonstrating ENMAX’s commitment to investing in our future workforce and helping students build valuable career skills. Eligible students must be enrolled full-time in a degree or diploma program and returning to full-time studies after the summer.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Assist with distribution system load modeling and analysis using CYME software.

  • Develop and enhance Power BI dashboards to consolidate planning metrics and results.

  • Support data collection, validation, and visualization efforts for planning studies.

  • Contribute to the 2027–2031 capital planning process, analyzing data and documenting project justifications.

  • Collaborate with engineers and EITs on advanced planning initiatives (e.g. integrating EVs, solar PV, battery storage) and recommend process improvements.

Education Required: Currently enrolled in a degree or diploma program in a relevant discipline and returning to full-time studies following the work term.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Technical aptitude in power systems or IT tools, with strong data analysis skills.

  • Proficiency in data visualization (Power BI) and basic programming or scripting (Python, SQL).

  • Familiarity with GIS and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Interest in the energy transition and emerging technologies; eager to learn new tools and concepts.

  • Excellent communication and research/reporting abilities; able to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

Salary: Administrator Level B, Step 1 – $24.82/hour (per the current CUPE Collective Agreement)

Location: This role is part of our hybrid work model. The office workspace is at ENMAX Place (141 – 50 Avenue SE, Calgary, AB). The team currently works from home on Mondays and Fridays, and in-office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
