The Summer Student, Power/Gas Trading will learn the fundamentals that drive the Alberta power and gas markets, gain an understanding of ENMAX assets, and have the opportunity to contribute meaningful work in a dynamic trading environment. With this knowledge, you will support our Power and Gas Trading desks by assisting with market analysis, building models, and creating various reports to present to internal stakeholders.

This position is part of the 2025 ENMAX Summer Student Program. This 16-week program demonstrates ENMAX’s commitment to invest in our future workforce and supports youth in building beneficial career skills. To be eligible, applicants must be enrolled in a full-time degree or diploma program at an accredited post-secondary institution and must be returning full-time in the fall. 

Major Responsibilities 

  • Support trade execution by building/maintaining models used in decision making

  • Support regulatory developments by researching various proposals in Alberta and surrounding markets

  • Create various reports and distribute/present to internal stakeholders

  • Draft/revise/edit procedures and documents related to power and gas markets

  • Assist with presentations to internal Trading members on regulatory concepts 

Education Required 

Currently enrolled in a Degree or Diploma program in Engineering, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related discipline and will be returning to full-time school following the work term. 

Qualifications & Experience 

  • Data analysis

  • Research and reporting

  • Microsoft Office proficiency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Basic programming or scripting (Python, SQL)

  • Communication skills

Salary 

Administrator Level B, Step 1 – $24.82/hour based on current CUPE Collective Agreement rates 

Location 

This role will be part of our hybrid (home and office) workforce with office workspace located at ENMAX Place (141 - 50th Avenue SE, Calgary, AB). You will work from home on Mondays and Fridays and in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
